We continue to develop the solar program at the school by maintaining the system we have on the main building, as well as buying solar lanterns for the students and teachers to use at home.
We are now looking at taking our solar program out into the communities. These communities are located in hill villages around Bwera in the Rwenzori Mountain range. Below is a sample of the type of system we are considering.
We are exploring solar power systems for individual huts as well as small village systems. Because the area we are working in is located so close to the equator, there is generally an equal number of hours of daylight and darkness each day. Having access to light in the evenings means they would have to buy little or no kerosene or candles for lighting.
